At the stroke of midnight on Bhadrapada Krishna Ashtami under Rohini Nakshatra, Lord Krishna descends. Devotees celebrate by performing Panchamrit Abhishekam through a conch shell (Dakshinavarti Shankh), dressing Bal Gopal in royal Peetambar garments, and gently rocking his flower-adorned cradle.

Step-by-Step Pooja Vidhi

Midnight Descent and Blowing of the Conch (निशीथ काल अवतरण)

As midnight strikes, unveil Bal Gopal hidden inside a decorated cucumber (Khire se Janma) or covered under silk. Blow the conch shell, ring bells, and chant 'Nand Ke Anand Bhayo Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki'.

Panchamrit Abhishek with Dakshinavarti Conch (पंचामृत अभिषेक)

Place Laddu Gopal in a wide brass brass plate (Paraat). Fill the conch with fresh cow milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar water. Bathe the deity sequentially while chanting the Purusha Sukta or Krishna Ashtakam.

Shringar: Royal Yellow Robes, Mor Pankh, and Flute (दिव्य शृंगार)

Gently pat the Lord dry with a soft pure cotton towel. Adorn him with the radiant yellow silk dress, place the jeweled mukut with peacock feather on his head, apply fragrant Chandan tilak, and rest the golden flute in his hands.

Bhog of Makhan-Mishri and Tulsi Dal (माखन-मिश्री भोग)

Offer a bowl of freshly churned homemade white butter with crystallized rock sugar (Mishri), cucumber, Panchamrit, and Dhaniya Panjiri prasad. Place fresh holy Tulsi leaves upon each item.

Jhula Seva and Midnight Maha Aarti (झूला झुलाना एवं महाआरती)

Seat the adorned Bal Gopal into the floral cradle (Jhula). All family members pull the cradle string gently with love. Light camphor and perform the beloved 'Aarti Kunj Bihari Ki'.

  • Ensure every single offering has a fresh, clean Tulsi leaf placed on top
